A female miniature schnauzer passes blood in the urine for the first time

First time passing blood in the urine. Urine test showed triple phosphate crystals, blood and bacteria. The pH = 9.0. I could not palpate any bladder stones and there was no pain or swollen bladder. I advised feeding acidifying prescription diet for 1-3 months to dissolve the crystals and antibiotics for the infection. I advised urine testing monthly for 3 months.

This is an early case of UTI with early bladder stone formation. Early correct diagnosis and treatment prevent surgery. Although the dog is not spayed, the blood in the urine is not related to the presence of haematuria.
